INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES FOR JÓVENES ADELANTE STUDENTS

Yeslie Naomi Rea García
University of the Valley of Mexico, Medicine
Exchange student at the University of Extremadura, Badajoz, Spain, with support of Jóvenes Adelante's Marta Puga Travel Fund.
The opportunity also afforded Yeslie the chance to travel elsewhere in Spain and Europe.
"I'd like to share with you how this life-changing experience has been for me.
The adjustment wasn't easy. Everything was new: the culture, the routines, the friendships. Little by little, I found my place and discovered the most valuable aspect of this time: the opportunity to make friends from different parts of the world, learn about their cultures, learn from them, and have experiences that will remain forever etched in my memory.
I had the opportunity to immerse myself in local life, to experience festivals like the fair and carnival, which allowed me to learn about Spanish culture, cuisine, and traditions."
“In Mexico, I had to prepare, but in Spain, the academic level of demand was much higher. I didn't pass everything, which was difficult, but the second time I overcame it. This process, although difficult, reaffirmed that I am pursuing the career I am truly passionate about.
This experience not only strengthened my study habits but also my self-confidence… I realized that a dream is never impossible; you just have to work harder and look for alternatives to achieve what you want."
"Today I recognize that this trip transformed me academically, professionally, and personally. I even revived a project I'd already had in mind, now strengthened by what I learned in one of my courses.
…Your support made it possible for me to experience an unforgettable time, filled with learning, wonderful people, memories, and growth. Thank you for believing in me."
Ayair Aboytes Orduña
Technological University of San Miguel de Allende, Tourism
Completing his professional internship at the Rosewood Mayakoba Hotel in the Sales and Groups department, Riviera Maya, Mexico, with support of Jóvenes Adelante's Marta Puga Travel Fund.
"Since May, I've been in Playa del Carmen, conducting my professional practices. It has been a very rewarding and enriching experience. I'm learning a lot, not only about the operation of an ultra-luxury hotel, but also about the importance of teamwork, high-quality service, and attention to detail.
The Riviera Maya has amazed me with its cultural and natural wealth. I've Also had the opportunity to visit Cancún and Puerto Morelos. Each place has something special, and being able to experience this diverse tourist environment up close has reaffirmed my passion for this career.
"It hasn't all been easy. My day is tough: I leave my apartment at 6am and return at almost 8pm. It's been tiring, but I'm also realizing how much I'm learning.
On a personal level, this experience has made me grow a lot. Being away from my family hasn't been easy. There are days when I feel like I can't take it anymore, but I also know I'll be back home soon, and that gives me strength. I know all this effort is worth it.
I'll be returning home in August and will begin my degree process. I'll start my bachelor's degree in September, and I'll graduate in October. I'm very excited for what's to come."
Nayeli Liset Chavez Tovar
Technological University of San Miguel de Allende, Tourism
Student doing her internship at the Hotel Xcaret Arte, within the Human Talent department, with the support of Jóvenes Adelante's Marta Puga Travel Fund.
"My life has been a journey of discovery and growth. I've learned that sharing my life with others is one of the most powerful ways to develop as a person.
I had the opportunity to do my professional practices outside my state, in Playa del Carmen, and it was an unforgettable experience. I met new people, learned from them, created a new routine, and adapted to an unfamiliar place and a time change.
My colleagues gave me a warm welcome and supported me with every question I had, providing me with tools and knowledge that I know will be useful in the future. They also supported me personally, helping me through difficult times."
"They gave me the confidence. I thought: If they trust me, why shouldn't I?
This allowed me to grow professionally and overcome my fear of speaking in front of large groups. I have mentored new collaborators, participated in the opening and closing of courses, and supported the logistics of activities."
"Being away from my parents, who are going through health and financial issues, was difficult, but thanks to Jóvenes Adelante, I was able to focus on my internship and take advantage of every lesson I learned. The encouraging words from my loved ones and the person I love gave me strength every day, even during difficult times for my physical and mental health.
Knowing that I'm about to complete this university phase fills me with memories and feelings. Every stage brings lessons; it's up to each person how they are handled. I reflect on what I've achieved...I'm proud of how I've learned them."
