Agus' Passions: cycling, hiking, being in nature and spending time with my family.

From a young age, working in the fields has been an opportunity to spend time together. Listening to my parents' stories and experiences has always inspired me to pursue my dreams.
Initially, I wanted to study Biology due to my interest in understanding and protecting the natural world. I went through the full admissions process and was admitted, and based on my entrance score, I was offered a place in Environmental (Integrated) Geography. I’ve grown passionate about this field, as it explores the relationship between society and nature and has provided me with tools that, in just two semesters, have changed how I view my surroundings.
One of my life goals is to complete my university studies so I can strengthen and expand my project, “Ama Mezquite.” The project has also been a source of income, as I prepare and sell desserts made from mesquite pods in my community and at the university.
I’ve worked and volunteered with several NGOs in San Miguel de Allende, such as Vía Orgánica, Jardín Botánico Charco del Ingenio, Valles de las Nubes, Casa Ayuda de Niños Internacional, and Fundación de Apoyo Infantil.
I’ve also participated in reforestation efforts in Querétaro and Michoacán through the organization Reforestacción.
My work in my community, Las Cañas, includes giving arts and crafts classes, leading workshops with local farmers on the importance of caring for our land, and running a 2 year project collecting mesquite with the high school students.
