AUDACITY, PERSERVENCE, RISK TAKING, PAYOFF!

by Guadalupe Alessio

Six of the most outstanding high school students in the country, with the highest grades in physics.

Their Goal: to participate in the International Physics Olympiad.

Their preparation: virtually from all parts of the country—for six grueling months.

The Selection Process: Solve both theoretical and practical tests of the highest level of complexity.

The Support: The National Coordinator of the Mexican Olympiad tell them there is no support from the various government agencies to help them participate.

The Audacious Risk: The students request a meeting with the owner of a newspaper.

The Results: A news story, and corporate and individual sponsorship follow, allowing them to participate in a week-long course at the International Physics Olympiad in Isfahan, Iran.

A month later, the news reappears that these incredible students had won Third Place in the World Olympiad!!!

3 GOLDEN RULES:

1- If you don't pursue what you want, you'll never have it.

2. If you don't ask, the answer will always be "no."

3. If you don't take a step forward, you'll stay in the same place.
